This half term, the Bats have settled into life in Year 6 with ease. They are now the role models of the school and are extremely proud to be wearing their ties.
To start the year off, they have been learning about the Ancient Greeks; finding out many facts about this historical time period. They have been fascinated with the information that they have learned about the gods and their powers.
To link with this foundation curriculum topic, they have been reading 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief' where they have been making predictions about what is going to happen in the story and also making links their background knowledge on the gods.
In PE, they have been learning the skills and rules of cricket. As a class they have shown great sportsmanship, encouraging each other when it has been their turn to bat.
Through their maths lessons, they are trying to increase their pace and knowledge of key skills as these will be important when they take their SATs Tests in May. Improving their knowledge and speed of their times tables has been vital. As a class, they are currently learning and becoming more confident with the 9x tables.
In computing, they have been learning some tricky skills for PowerPoint where they are combining texts and pictures to make it more visually engaging. We will be adding animations to finish these off.
After half term, they will be moving from the Ancient Greeks to World War I, which they are especially excited about.
