In Spring 1 we learnt about the Great Fire of London. Hedgehogs were so interested in finding out about all the event that happened in 1666 and how London has changed as a result. As part of the topic we made bread like the famous baker Thomas Farriner, used DT skills to create a well with an axel and wheel like the people used to fetch water and made artistic scenes of the fire using silhouettes of London city made out of black paper and tissue paper.
We borrowed an artefact box from the Hampshire history centre containing real life artefacts and replica's from the Great Fire of London. The children got to touch them and think about how things have changed since 1666.
