Year 4 - Hedgehogs

Welcome to Hedgehogs - Year 4!

In Year 4, we’ve been working hard to settle back into our routines and get back into the rhythm of school life.

Our new topic, Extreme Survival, has sparked lots of curiosity and discussion as we explore how people and animals adapt to different climates. To support this, we’ve been reading a range of engaging books, including Tom Crean’s Rabbit by Meredith Hooper and The Lost Book of Adventure by Teddy Keen.

The Hedgehogs have already been developing their writing skills, learning new techniques and applying them brilliantly in their work. In maths, we’ve been practising our times tables — we’re currently focusing on the 9s — and the children have shown great enthusiasm and growing confidence.

In computing, the class has been using iMovie to create short films all about polar bears. They’ve really enjoyed experimenting with different styles, text, and animations, and their projects are looking fantastic — we can’t wait to see the finished versions!

Looking ahead, we’ll continue practicing on Times Tables Rock Stars, where the Hedgehogs have already become very competitive with their class leaderboard. Please do remind your children to keep up with their homework and online practice.
