  • Important e-safety information

    Wed 27 Feb 2019

    Parents please be aware:

We have been informed by the Police about a current internet safety issue that is affecting children. Please see below for further advice on this matter. We would urge you not to share this with children as it is unsuitable viewing but please be very vigilant. If you have any concerns or queries, please contact the school immediately.

    What is the MOMO Challenge

    MOMO Challenge Poster for Parents

    E-Safety is taken very seriously.

At the start of every school year pupils are reminded of the rules regarding E-Safety and how to protect themselves against the many threats that they can be exposed to.

As our children now live in a digital world it has become increasingly important that, as a school, parent or carer, we are aware of their activities and how we can protect them against possible threats.

Please see the links below for advice on how to protect your children. If you have any queries regarding E-Safety, please contact your child’s class teacher.

E-Safety tips for Parents of Primary School children

The following websites have lots of information about how your child can keep themselves safe and still enjoy using the Internet. Most importantly, they can report illegal or inappropriate online behaviour through the ‘Report abuse’ button.

  • Online and Social Media Safety

    Thu 14 Jun 2018
With regular reports of children being targeted or groomed by adults via social media or other internet channels, we would like to remind parents of the critical importance of taking steps to reduce the risk of their children becoming vulnerable to this behaviour.

Please do take the time to set up robust parental controls on devices and ensure that you set the passwords and codes and keep this confidential, so that only you know them.

In the unfortunate circumstance that your child receives inappropriate messages or images via social media, please report this instantly to the Police on the non-emergency 101 number.

There is some helpful advice relating to this on Hampshire County Council’s website: https://www.hants.gov.uk/socialcareandhealth/childrenandfamilies/safeguardingchildren/onlinesafety

You may find it helpful for your children to be aware of and to have viewed this website:

Helpful advice is also available from the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) website:

Aside from the risk of exploitation, it is unfortunate in this day and age that content exists on social media that would be inappropriate, and potentially harmful, for children to view.

If you or your children receive images or videos on Snapchat, Instagram, Whatsapp or via any other social media featuring people that are naked or are sexual in nature, these should be deleted immediately and reported to the Police on the non-emergency 101 telephone number. Many people are still unaware that showing or sharing such images or videos with others could mean they are committing a crime. However, if a genuine mistake is made, it would be treated as such by the Police.

Don't forget, on Wednesday 27th June our PCSO, Lee Haywood, is running workshops in school for parents to specifically help you understand and deal with these types of issues. A letter went home this week with details so please send back your slip if you are interested.
