We kicked off Year 4 with an amazing den-building challenge! Our mission was to create our own shelters using materials we could find around us. Everyone searched high and low for the best logs and sticks, choosing ones that were strong and the right size for building. It took about an hour of teamwork, problem-solving, and lots of creativity to get our dens ready.
Once the building was done, we tested how well our creations worked. Each group checked their den’s strength and even tested how waterproof they were — some held up brilliantly, while others needed a few improvements. It was great fun seeing how different designs worked and learning what made a strong, dry den.
The Hedgehogs really stood out with their impressive teamwork and clever design. Their den was sturdy, well thought out, and showed great effort from everyone. They represented Mill Hill wonderfully and set a brilliant example for the rest of the groups!
