So far this Autumn term, Deer class have been learning what the rules and routines look like at Mill Hill School.
Deers have been working so hard to gain independence in school. This has included knowing where to put their things in the morning, where there place is in the line and lunch hall, what to do when they hear our class bells, chosing their lunch and what they need to get at the end of each day.
The children have been learning all about how they can feel proud of themselves and notice when others are proud of them too. They know all about house team points, Bronze, Silver and Gold chart, and our Compliment jar. Our jar is already nearly full - showing how many great choices Deer class have been making around school.
We have been focussing our learning on the season of Autumn, through creating art, maths, stories, nature walks, songs and music. The children have been so curious about our world and especially loves going on a nature hunt for acorns, pinecones, leaves and conkers for us to use in our classroom.
We start every day with Monster phonics and the children have loved meeting the new monsters! They have already learned many new phonemes and are working hard to say and read them. We have tried making each grapheme too, with fingers in the sand, painting on foil, writing with a pencil and pen and matching with magnetic letters.
