The Great War

This half term we have been learning all about World War 1 and World War 2.

We began by writing information texts all about the Great War by researching what life would be like in the trenches.  We then wrote a diary from the point of view of a soldier in the form of a flashback.

Finally, we used the information we had learnt to create a short story about someone emerging from the underground stations after an air raid.  The children were fascinated with this subject and raised many questions about the validity of war and what doing one's duty really meant.

Did you know....

  • Most of World War One was fought in Belgium, France and Switzerland.
  • WWII began on September 1st 1939 and ended on September 2nd 1945.
