India

During Autumn 1, Hedgehogs learnt all about India. We started by locating India on the map and finding out facts about the country. We learnt that India is home to 1.3 billion people and that it would take you over 9 hours to get there on a plane from the UK. The capital city is called New Dehli, where you will find famous landmarks such as the Lotus Temple, Red Fort, Indian Gate and Qutab Minar. Mrs Shaw even brought in some Indian food. We enjoyed trying bhajis, samosas and chutneys! While India was a little too far away to visit ourselves, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Mrs Anderson, who has visited India a number of times. She showed us special outfits, holiday photos and shared stories about her adventures.

In our art lessons this half term, we researched and analysed the work of an illustrator called Rosalind Monks. Monks uses line art to create decorative images of animals. We focused on making our patterns detailed, symmetrical, repetitive and geometric. You can see our whole class outcome below. We are very proud of our elephant art which can be found pride of place in our room.

Here are our selfies from visiting New Dehli's famous landmarks!
