Making a home for Handa and Akeyo

All you need is sticks, elastic bands and string.

Begin by creating squares with the sticks and elastic bands. You could then investigate what makes a square and whether these are true representations/if it's possible to make a true representation given that natural sticks have curves to their shape.

Then using string to bind 4 squares together to create a cube shape. This is great opportunity for recapping knowledge about 2D & 3D shapes and their properties.

Repeat and decorate! There's so many different ways to create this structure,

This weekend many families celebrated the 75th anniversary of VE day. I would love to see how you and the family joined in with your own home celebrations.
