Mill Hill : Year 1 Phonics Screening National Comparative Report 2015

In year 1, all children nationally are required to take a phonic test.  This is delivered by the class teacher on a one to one basis.  The children read 40 words out of context; some of these are real words and some are “nonsense” words which can be read by applying phonic knowledge.  In order to achieve a pass mark, the child has to read 32 or more words correctly.
In 2015, 17 children were tested with each child being the equivalent of 5.9%.
The table below shows the school results for 2015 compared to national data for 2014 as national data for 2014 is not yet available. Due to the high value of each child in a small cohort, the school data is in line with national.
